Signed out when travelling or using a VPN
Why nothing loads or you get signed out when you are on holiday, abroad, travelling, working from another country, on hotel or airport wifi, or using a VPN, and exactly how to get back to work.

When you sign in to Quorum, your sign-in is tied to the place you signed in from. That is one of the quiet ways we keep your workspace safe, because a sign-in that suddenly turns up somewhere else is exactly what a stolen one looks like. The trade-off is that arriving in a new country, or switching on a VPN that makes you appear to be somewhere else, can bring the sign-in you were using to an end.
What you will see
- Pages that never finish loading, or panels that stay empty
- A sudden return to the Sign in screen, sometimes in the middle of something you were working on
- Live updates that stop arriving, so a podcast or a meeting scan looks stuck part way through
- A message along the lines of "Your session is no longer valid. Please sign in again."
Nothing has been lost when this happens. Your meetings, podcasts, files and settings are all exactly where you left them, and your account is in good standing. Signing in again is the whole fix, and it is not a reset of anything.
What to do
- Settle on the connection you plan to keep using, whether that is hotel wifi, mobile data, your office network or your VPN.
- If you use a VPN, decide whether you want it on or off for the rest of your working session, and leave it that way rather than switching back and forth.
- Open the Quorum app you were using and sign in again with your usual email, password and Workspace.
- Carry on where you left off.
From that point everything behaves normally in your new location, for as long as you stay on the same kind of connection. There is no setting to change, no waiting period, and nothing our team needs to unlock for you. Travelling for a fortnight simply means signing in once when you arrive.
If it keeps repeating
Being asked to sign in over and over usually means your connection keeps appearing to move, so the new sign-in is treated the same way as the last one. The usual causes are easy to spot:
- A VPN that hops between servers in different countries. Pick one and stay on it for the working session, or turn the VPN off entirely while you use Quorum.
- Flipping between hotel wifi and mobile data, especially near a border or on a train. Settle on one for a while.
- A company network that sends your traffic out through an office in another country, which can differ from app to app.
- A phone or laptop that reconnects through a different network every time it wakes from sleep.
Choosing one connection and staying on it for an hour is the quickest way to tell whether the connection is the cause. If you are still being signed out after that, please get in touch with our support team and include the app you were using, roughly when it happened, the country you are in, whether a VPN or a company network is involved, and whether it happens on every connection you try. That is everything we need to look into it properly for you.
When this applies
This is the answer when nothing loads while you are on holiday, on a trip, abroad, working from another country, on hotel, airport or cafe wifi, tethered to a phone abroad, or connected through a VPN or a company network that comes out in a different country. It is also the answer when Quorum keeps signing you out, asks you to sign in over and over, shows blank or empty pages, or stops updating, and all of it started after you changed location or turned a VPN on or off.
