Files shared in Microsoft Teams

Files your team shares in Microsoft Teams are covered by the same Microsoft 365 connection that imports the rest of your documents, because Teams stores them in OneDrive and SharePoint behind the scenes.

Where Teams keeps your files

Microsoft stores a file you share in a one-to-one or group chat in the sender's OneDrive, inside a folder called Microsoft Teams Chat Files. A file shared in a team channel lives in that team's SharePoint site instead. Quorum imports both OneDrive and SharePoint, so connecting Microsoft 365 brings your Teams files along with everything else.

Resync your Teams files

Any workspace admin can refresh the imported copies from the Connections tab in Storage.

1. Open Storage and go to Connections
2. Find the Microsoft 365 row and click Sync now for a quick pass that picks up new and changed files
3. If something still looks out of date, click Force resync to re-scan the whole source from scratch

The row shows how many files are tracked and when the last sync ran, so you can confirm the pass completed. A force resync can take a while on large libraries, and nothing duplicates when it runs again.

If Teams files are missing

Check that the Microsoft 365 row on the Connections tab shows Connected rather than Awaiting admin approval, and check whether personal drive syncing is enabled in your storage settings, because chat files live in personal OneDrive folders. Files shared in private channels live in their own smaller SharePoint sites, so very recently created channels may need a sync pass before their files appear.
