Organise your files with folders

Create folders, move files one at a time or in bulk, rename folders, and understand which folders sync manages for you.

Organise your files with folders

Folders keep a growing library manageable, and everything you do with them is reflected for the whole workspace right away. Renaming or moving never breaks briefings or search, because files keep their identity wherever they live.

Create a folder

  1. On the Files page, select New folder.
  2. Enter a name. The folder is created inside whatever folder you are currently viewing.

Move files

To move a single file, use the Move to folder action on its row and pick a destination. Folders you created recently appear as one-tap shortcuts, and you can create a new folder from inside the move dialog too.

To move many files at once, click a file's type icon to enter selection mode. A bar appears showing how many files are selected, with Select all, Move, Download and Delete actions. Choose Move, pick the destination, and all selected files go together. Use Stop selecting to leave selection mode.

Navigate and rename

Breadcrumbs at the top of the list show where you are, starting from your workspace name. Click any part of the path to jump there. While viewing a folder, the pencil icon renames it. Files and subfolders follow automatically, so nothing needs re-filing after a rename.

Delete a folder

Only empty folders can be deleted, which protects you from removing content by accident. Open the folder, and if it has no files and no subfolders a delete icon appears next to the breadcrumbs. Move or delete the contents first if the folder is not empty.

Folders that sync manages

When Microsoft 365 is connected, imports arrive under the OneDrive and SharePoint folders, mirroring the structure at the source. Sync keeps those folders aligned with Microsoft 365, including cleaning up folders that deletions leave empty. Folders you create yourself are never touched by sync, even when they are empty.
