Set your podcast preferences

Your preferences are how Quorum tailors briefing episodes to you rather than producing one generic recording for everyone. A few minutes here pays off in every episode you receive.

Where to find them

Open Preferences in the sidebar. The page holds four fields.

  1. Domain is the type of work you do, for example software development, finance, or marketing.
  2. Role is your position, for example software engineer or marketing manager.
  3. Interests are topics your episodes should emphasise. Type one and press Enter or the add button to attach it as a tag. Add as many as you like and remove any by closing its tag.
  4. Custom instructions is free text for anything else, for example "Focus on actionable insights, include concrete examples".

Press Save preferences. Your next podcasts will be tailored with these settings immediately.

What your preferences change

When a meeting's episodes are planned, every attendee's profile is read together so the plans can be coordinated. Your domain and role decide what your episode emphasises and how deep it goes on each area. Your interests pull matching topics forward. Your custom instructions shape the delivery, though workspace-wide standing instructions set by your admin take precedence wherever the two conflict.

Until you save a profile, episodes fall back to a neutral default that focuses on what any listener needs to know to walk into the meeting prepared. Personalised is always better, which is why the dashboard nudges new members to complete their profile.

Preferences power attendee search

Your domain and role also make you findable. When someone creates a meeting and types # followed by a topic in the attendee search, for example #finance, Quorum matches the query against every member's saved domain and role by meaning, not exact wording. A search for #budgets can find a person whose domain says financial planning. Strong matches arrive pre-highlighted so the organiser can add the right group in one keystroke.

If your profile is empty, you will not appear in these topic searches, so keeping your domain and role accurate helps colleagues include you in the meetings that concern you.

Your first visit

New members are guided to set up their profile on their first visit to the dashboard. Workspaces also wait for enough profiles before creating their first podcast, because an episode generated before anyone has a profile is personalised to no one. Saving your preferences is the single most useful thing you can do when you join.
