Browser and cookie requirements for signing in

Quorum works in any up-to-date browser, and signing in depends on two everyday browser features: cookies and site storage. Understanding what they do makes almost every sign-in problem easy to fix.

Why cookies matter

When you sign in, Quorum stores your session in a cookie that is shared across all Quorum apps. That one cookie is what lets you sign in once and then move freely between Podcasts, Account, and Storage without signing in again, and it is also why signing out anywhere signs you out everywhere.

If your browser blocks cookies for Quorum, sign-in cannot complete. You may find yourself sent back to the sign-in page immediately after signing in, over and over, because the session simply cannot be kept. To fix this, allow cookies for quorumtech.ch and its subdomains in your browser's privacy settings.

Because all Quorum apps live under the same quorumtech.ch domain, you do not need to allow third party cookies. Standard first party cookie settings are enough.

Why site storage matters

Quorum also uses your browser's local storage for small conveniences: your light or dark mode choice, and the workspace you last signed into so the sign-in page can prefill it next time. If storage is blocked these conveniences quietly fall back, so the sign-in page just asks for your workspace again and the app starts in light mode. Nothing breaks, you only lose the memory between visits.

How long you stay signed in

Your session lasts up to 30 days, and Quorum refreshes it quietly in the background while you keep using the platform, including whenever you return to a Quorum tab. When a session can no longer be refreshed, for example after a long absence or after being signed out elsewhere, Quorum sends you to the central sign-in page and then returns you to the exact page you were on.

Private browsing

Private or incognito windows work with Quorum, with one caveat: everything above is discarded when the window closes, so you will sign in again next time and your appearance choice will not be remembered.

Quick checklist if sign-in fails

1. Confirm cookies are allowed for quorumtech.ch.
2. Turn off browser extensions that block cookies or storage, or try a window without them.
3. Check that your device clock is set automatically, since a very wrong clock can make a fresh session look expired.
4. Try a private window or another browser to rule out stale state.
