Using Quorum as an installed app

You can add Quorum to your device like any other app, using your browser's install or "Add to Home Screen" option, and the dashboards are built to feel right in that mode.

Installing

Open the Quorum app you use most in your browser and use the browser's own install option. On most desktop browsers this appears in the address bar or the browser menu, and on phones it is usually called "Add to Home Screen". Each Quorum app installs separately, so you can install just Podcasts, or the full set.

What is different when installed

Installed Quorum behaves like the browser version with the same features and the same shared sign-in, and a few touches make it feel native:

  • An app-like layout. The dashboard fills the window exactly, with the sidebar and header fixed and only the content area scrolling. The page as a whole never scrolls or bounces, which is what you expect from an app rather than a web page.
  • A status bar that matches. The colour around the app, including the phone's status bar and the installed app's title bar, follows your light or dark mode choice, white in light mode and near black in dark mode. When you toggle the appearance, the frame updates with it.
  • Small screens are first class. On narrow screens the sidebar folds into a drawer behind the menu button in the top left, and it closes itself as soon as you pick a destination so you are never left waiting behind it.

Signing in

The installed app uses the same shared Quorum session as your browser, and signing in works the same way, through the central Quorum sign-in page. Signing out inside the installed app signs you out of Quorum everywhere, just as it does in the browser.

If something looks off

If the installed app ever seems stuck on old content, close it fully and reopen it, which gives you a fresh start in the same way a browser refresh does. And if the status bar colour ever looks mismatched after a reload, toggling the appearance once brings everything back in line.
